Introduction

A 24 month old girl presents to the emergency department with a history of shaking, jerking episodes in her sleep. The patient was loaded with phosphinitoin after two total doses of IV lorazepam. Patient was subsequently intubated for airway protection as well as respiratory failure. A respiratory viral panel was negative for SARS-CoV-2 but positive for rhinoentrovirus. She was admitted to the pediatric ICU with continuous EEG monitoring and placed on mechanical ventilation with fentanyl and dexmetatomidine infusions.
