Is Social Capital Positive Sum or Negative Sum?
I was witnessing a debate on Twitter where basically people were talking about how financial capital is positive sum. Whereas social capital, they thought, was either negative sum or less positive sum in the sense that attention is finite and social capital in terms of status. And I'm saying, no, finance markets have to be a complex system such that at certain times they're positive sums,. Sometimes they're negative sums, sometimes they're intermediate sums. So if people are asking themselves a question, then the answer they have is not interesting or adequate if it doesn't display this very complex dynamic That's neither positively or just negatively correlated. It's correlated, the relationship's so much more complex than that.
