Rackspace CIO Brian Schmitz talks about some of the advantages he draws from having sat on both sides of the table. He says there is a camaraderie that you can gain by being able to say, "I hear what the business is asking of you" One advantage it has is number one empathy; I will tell them when we can do something or when we can't because last thing I want to do is sell them something.
