Is Your Intercept and Slope Informed by Your Factor Score?
In the libertarian view of this thing, the intercept and slope are factors. And in order to get scores associated with those, we need score estimates. If you do an OLS trajectory estimate, that's each case in isolation from all other cases. But if you get a factor score or an empirical Bayes estimate out of a model that you fitted to the data, that's a joint contribution of the individual data and the characteristics of the sample.
