I think from a partisan point of view, it's better not to have the distinctions. I mean, Josephus Daniel types, you know, they were very progressive in terms of like the role of the government stuff. They just dated black people. And they didn't want the government messing in their affairs on those issues, but they were perfectly willing to have the government messing their affairs on all kinds of economic issues. So yes, we need theories and patterns to construct, but the theories and patterns have to be much more complex than we are used to assigning to historical events.
