If you don't have a dedicated resource to actually do security find an outsourced provider and move to an outsourced management protocol. The next thing I would say is look at the default things that are on your machines on your endpoints and configurations like Microsoft's a great example. If you're not a developer doing crazy nerd things you don't need PowerShell therefore turn it off. And then the last thing is really move to cloud infrastructure because cloud infrastructure especially for small midsize business enables management at scale.
