Shelby: We're unprepared to live in it, to thrive in it. And maybe there's a little racism in there somewhere. But the real problem is California last year, black kids who graduated from high school read at an eighth grade level. That's the problem. I want more people to be able to imagine that that rich history at the AME church is something that they can imagine themselves as a part of.
