Is Medicaid a Good Business Model?
Valparaiso is a hospital corporation that relies on Medicaid money to run its nursing homes. The state of Indiana receives more per capita in federal supplemental payments for nursing facilities than any other state, including California and New York. Valparaiso accounts for 30% of all supplemental nursing facility funding distributed at least on a yearly basis.
