Valerie Hamaker: Our brains tendency to accept information that might interfere with our way of making a living. Brian McLaren says this I wish that my religion had helped me and others face and confront these biases instead of reinforcing them with religious devotion. There's a lot of money to be made by shortsighted leaders, political or religious who use confidence bias to tell people the comforting lies they want to hear rather than the complex and uncomfortable behavior.
