The Importance of Gatekeeping

I like to gatekeep where I buy something until I've bought it because I don't shop very often. The other day I was posting that I was trying to get a specific bag from the real real and then I posted about it and then every single one in that style was in someone's car on the real real after I posts about it. So I'm like I get gatekeeping in that sense and I'm also just like why again why they need to buy into exactly what someone else has? It's just like an overconsumption issue.
