Belarusian Citizenship

Lukashenko is adopting tactics that were once used by Lenin and Stalin in the Soviet era when millions of refugees lost their citizenship, forever. By the end of the 20th century, most states had moved away from using citizenship as a political weapon. International law is very clear that there is a clear prohibition of deprivation of nationality if it leads to statelessness. Citizenship of any country is a privilege, not a right. It is a privilege which also comes with responsibility.
