The Role of Predictions in the Theory of Reality
The snow globe image is quite useful, because a good way to think about it is that what's going on when you get that sort of on rush of novelty, as you as you nicely put it there, is really the relaxation of entrenched predictions. And since it's not being gathered into the accepted buckets, then new patterns can be detected, new shapes can form. It's not that they form without the benefit of predictions. It's just that the predictions that can now be recruited to deal with that information, and not the ones that were being recruited before. Now, do you have personal experience with any of these drugs? Yeah, some of them at least.
