The Importance of Analogies in Foreign Intervention
Sally Kohn: This raises a lot of really interesting issues. And so let me just kind of think out loud for a second about them, which is, as you said this, it sounds like there's the criticism of a Kantian categorical imperative, the rule. One of the criticisms of it is that whether the rule obtains in a given situation really just comes down to analogies. She says she thinks these tools are inappropriate in both foreign intervention and border security contexts.Kohn: But I think that what this sort of spread of techniques of social control shows us is that you're going to have a hard time confining them to any specific arena.
