The Laws of the Dead
Deuteronomy, chapter 14 is given in the context of an exposition of the third commandment. You shall not cut yourselves or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead. God does not want his people to become a people associated with death. The priests are forbidden to make themselves unclean for the dead among their peop but exceptions are made for their closest blood relatives.
