Stonehenge - A Stonehenged Site, Not a Henge
The first evidence of construction around the stonehenge site is believed to be in or around three thousand 100 b e. There are various evidences of earthworks, woodworks and stone works that appear to date back to this period. A circular ditch was dug into the earth, with the resulting chalk that was used to form a bank alongside the ditch. Henges are known to have the ditch inside the bank, but in stonehenge's case, the bank is inside the ditch. Human bones were buried at the sit as well as the bones of deer and oxen. It also doesn't appear that these bones were just buried, suggesting that some of the bones were in some way looked
