idioms are phrases that express figurative or non literal meanings. An idiom i like because it works so well at you know exactly what it means when you hear it, is to throw some one under the bus. This is one that's become really popular in the last 20 years or soad it means to sort of sacrificed someone to save yourself. It seems to have emerged in around about the 19 eighties. And actually, originally in the u k, people talked about politicians sort of falling under a bus, or being pushed under a bus.
