Tangle Is a Very Tango Thing.
In tangle, there's sort of a tangle of swing. Instead of having four as notes, you triplet them to break up the rythm. Any time you're playing legato, you kind of have to do that. You don't play straight eighths. And any time you're Playing staccato, you want to play as straight as possible. So if you're playing it lyrically, you'd be like something like that.
Tango is more than just dance, and more than just music - it's a whole artistic genre. For some people, it's a way of life. One such person is Alex Krebs, a Portland-based tango instructor, Bandoneon player, and bandleader who has dedicated the past couple decades to spreading a love of tango around the world.
On this episode, Alex and pianist Andrew Oliver take Kirk (and all of you) on a journey into the wide, enchanting world of tango.
