The Military Coup in Spain
In some areas of Africa the military coup was met with violence, like in Kuwaita. But their resistance was quickly brushed aside and in many areas there was almost no resistance at all. There were three main paths that the small skirmishes around Spain took in the early hours and days of the coup. If the local military garrison moved to capture strategic areas and buildings quickly and they were successful, that success often cascaded into more success as right wing paramilitary forces would join in. This could also happen if the local workers unions and leftist militia groups were well organized. The third path that these events could take which was the dominant path in some areas of Spain was a quick and decisive victory for the republic
