HAGS orders on first day of Somme were 57 pages for 13 divisions conducting a deliberate attack. A single core attack today may run to 750 pages, why is it that orders have become so bloated in overtime? The main thread is a peacetime wish for completeness which largely comes out of the school. Without some kind of continuing operational penalty against that then it just becomes easier and easier and easier and they've just got longer and longer.
