Eclipse Attacks Revealed
One of the solutions. we discussed are IP buckets, where you categorize other nodes in different buckets with IPs that suggest they are behind different ISPs. That is one of the general defenses against Eclipse attacks. And there's a bunch of other things that we're done to make the original attacks more difficult. By this paper, the one we're discussing this week actually introduced, proposed, I don't know what the right word is to use here. Revealed a new type of Eclipse attack. So basically one where you can fake a lot of those initial IP addresses, rather than just one or two. Right.
