If you even have a little bit of Latin like enough to sound it out it's actually worth finding the text of the Latin or the confessions online. Augustine was a master rhetorician and nowhere does he write more beautifully than in the confessions. The person to whom it is addressed is actually not really the reader of the confessions. So his audience so to speak is also God.
