The Importance of Silence
I'm going to tell a story on Father Jacob Bertrand here real quick. He had developed this habit of late night private prayer in the deepest silence and he would flinch as if we were inflicting pain on him whenever there was this smallest movement of sniff or throat clear. There's a real purgative time in my life getting used to praying two inches from somebody else's face. I mean, especially if you're not used to that kind of prayer, that kind of time, take baby steps, huh? Use that again. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Allow that to deepen and mature.
