Take a cold shower when a warm one would be more pleasant. Skip breakfast, walk barefoot. Delay gratification for as long as possible. Then watch your emotions and your responses. Can you tolerate discomfort? Can you get on with life despite a minor discomfort, without whining? You might find that not only do you give yourself the gift of learning to tolerate life's inevitable unpleasantness, you also recalibrate yourself so you're better able to appreciate the things you do have.
