When we exercise our willpower, it can lead us astray. This is an interesting kind of paradox of the brain. If you set this goal not to think or say or do or consume something that because you're then in this heightened internal state of vigilance, it just primes you to give in Or it amplifies any of those impulses. And so there are kind of two solutions to this. One is to try to find a way to define your goals so that you're looking for something to say yes to.
