The History of the Kauaiyoo
The Kauaiyo was a bird that lived on the Hawaiian island of Kauai in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The arrival of Europeans proved disastrous for every species of oo. Invasive animals also destroyed birds and their habitats. These have long contributed to species extinctions, as noted by Polynesian people over 1500 years ago.
