The Problems With AV Data

There's no data reporting requirement whatsoever. This is a huge problem for us and industry does not provide relevant data about these incidences happening. The vast majority of autonomous vehicle pickup and drop off in San Francisco happens in the middle of the traffic lane. At three o'clock in the morning, you can block traffic on most streets in San Francisco and not create a direct traffic problem. But you may be creating a safety problem as other traffic who has no idea what you're doing has to veer into oncoming traffic. Or if you're a passenger getting out of the autonomous vehicle into traffic is also deeply problematic. Observing this everywhere in San Francisco.
