You need to get in the habit of acknowledging your dog on a regular basis for whatever behavior that he or she is doing. You don't think you have to have food or treats on you at all time. Play around with it to see what your dog finds as super rewarding. Your dog may love beef lung, but somebody else's dog may think beef lung is on the lower end of the totem pole.
