Ekon deals can be really, really fair if both partners aner a similar stage of wealth. Can be less fair if one partner is poor and the other partners are rich. In your case, it sounded like the business was to some extent bankable. So so your partner could raise and yet get debt. And there there was an expectation that there would be a willingness of either party to carry some debt.
