The Untapped Step System
The tap system was a way that Richard found to signify whether things have been used in a way that you could just use the orientation of the cards. The untapped step gets used a few other places, but mostly it is when things that happened at the beginning of the turn couldn't be undone. Triggers don't necessarily happen there, but there are certain things that are built into the system, like phasing. Day night came about because I think originally day night happened at the end of the turn, and then there's shenanigans at being at the end or before the pipe gets over.
