The Meaning of the West, Right?
When we talk about this era, when people say the west, they often mean the sort of, the sort of west. And in a sense, that meaning of west carries over then to when we talk about the rise of communism and the iron curtain. A lot of people in western europe, and especially in the united states, started talking about the world as east versus west. But there's still this fundamental sense that the west is different, is whatever the east is not.
