Nine Arms: The Neoliberal Approach to Development

Nine Arms is very kind of neoliberal because it's the state intervening to allow the private sector to do something which ends up reducing public goods. For me, Nine Arms is not about the density or the skyscrapers. It's about the public good that we could have got. If you're building Nine Arms and you're getting your 35% 40% social housing, great, because that's housing that I can give to local families. That was a once in a generation opportunity. But sometimes waiting five years and 10 years and getting huge amount of public good that will last for 100 years is a better thing to do.
