The Vocabulary Content of Written Language Is Different From That of Oral Language

The vocabulary content of written language is completely different to that of oral language. Children's books way outstripe the language of educated people when they're speaking. The reason for this is probably to do with the salience of these words. They don't come to your mind fast enough when you're speaking because you have to speak spontaneously.
