You can get into investments and learn them through an investment club, usually a small initial investment or a monthly commitment. The group meets then to explore investment opportunities or ideas deciding by committee where the money goes. Usually there's some kind of decision making process rather than just whatever somebody thinks. But all this stuff definitely needs to be formalized whenever I come across anybody who's in an investment club.
