Is There a Stereotype Threat in Baseball?
Stereotypes come up for two different parties. The players are under stereotype threat, unique to their specific backgrounds. But the evaluators themselves are also probably subconsciously using these stereotypes in their evaluations. I don't think there are many scouts today who are openly prejudiced against any of these groups.
