The Art of Legati

Legati's fiction is much more creative, expansive and ultimately life affirming than his non-fiction would lead you to think. Just as there's an awful opulence to the world of dreams that the boy and the story experiences night after night, there's an opulence to Legati's prose which makes the ugly and the grotesque and the horrible beautiful. By making them beautiful, it's almost alchemical of what's going on in Legati. For me, reading his work has always been almost kind of redemptive or salvific kind of experience.
