What's the Indictment of Problem Solving?
The criticism of Confucianism is that the mode of solving those problems is to further venerate the things that are the source of the problem itself. So you see this in 19 and several other sections, that the veneration of certain kinds of distinctions socially then leads to the very problems that they're trying to solve. The indictment is we need to be more aligned with the way the world is. That's the great way. And it's when we're fighting against it and we're trying to prescribe to it, which is these cultivation of knowledge and wisdom, then we run into problems, especially socially.
