The Origins of Rome
There's a wide variety of different dates assigned to the foundation of the city. The one most widely accepted by the Romans is 753 BC but that date wasn't arrived at and didn't become canonical until probably the mid-first century BC. Some poets even thought that Rome was founded at the time of the Trojan War it's only later on it's only as Varo does his investigations and the story becomes refined and canonized if you like that they are light on that particular very famous date at 753BC.
