How Do You Get College Students to Engage?

It used to be a columbia university that there was no requirement for undergraduates to take any scignce classes. And you didn't like that and spear headed a change that made science mandatory. Y, i would love to walk through the park with you. How do your students respond? Because as a professor, i just have the hardest time getting college students to engage in any way, shap perform.
