How to Correct Statistical Errors in Meta Analyses

There's a lot of places to make a statistical error in a meta analyses. The most common thing is simply mistaking standard deviations for standard errors, which can really inflate the effect of that one study. You can tell when the person doing the meta analysis knows what they're supposed to do, but they don't know why or what to do with it. So those are the most common things I've seen.
