The Hermit Crab Transition
A hermit crab uses living coral as a house that it can grow alongside. A worm attached to the butt of a small marine worm called a sipunculed or a peanut worm provides shelter from preditors. As the worm crawls to new places, up to a couple meters per day, the coral attached to its butt gets dragged along. It's a pretty good mutualism, two friends that grow up together overtime.
