Cheryl Crow's first album came out in 1996 with a song called Heaven's Gate and another song which I'm about to play you that is clearly about going off with aliens. There was a cult in the 90s called Heaven’s Gate who were quite strange they thought that a spacecraft was hiding in the tail of the hail bop call comet  that was passing close to Earth's orbit at night. They all dressed up in their weird little outfits and their Nike shoes and they committed mass suicide March of 1997.
