The Adventures of Mungo Park

Dr. Mungo Park was selected to lead the next expedition to find the Niger River in 1795. He departed for Africa on May 22, 1795 from Portsmouth, England,. On July 5, he arrived at the trading post of Pazania, about 200 miles up river from the Atlantic Ocean. His contact there was a man named Dr. John Laidley who would be an essential aid to Park.
