What Is the Depth of a Community?
M, ruskin is essentially looking at what it means to be a community. His answer is that merchants byt and their action is entirely self interested. And whereas soldiers are participating, i a community where sacrifice for the community is expected. But post modern people are very different from pre modern people. It's very hard to bridge that gap even though you may have a certain kind of sympathy there.
