In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, there are certain essential elements that have to be present. The proclamation of the word and acceptance of the gospel entailing conversion. There's a need for instruction after baptism but also "the necessary flowering of baptismal grace and personal growth" And so these are these distinct and essential elements and aspects of this Christian initiation process.
