The Unbalanced Treaty of Samos
Alcibiades was instrumental in Haulkidius' willingness to accept such an unbalanced treaty. He must have argued that a quick agreement, no matter what it stipulated, would give them the personal credit for achieving an alliance with the Persians. While these negotiations were taking place, the Athenians at Laude were still able to set up a blockade of the city. His timidity and fear on HaulKidius' part would have serious consequences if he hadn't done so.
