The Importance of Input in Art
There's a balance and I think it really depends on you where that balance is. You have to be honest with yourself about where the balance is. Listen to your instincts. If you are feeling dry, then you go to that rich well of resources of other people's work That fills you up. And if you are feeling like all you're doing is taking in, you've got to go out and exercise it. The best analogy I can think of offhand because I've used it a lot, is that input is food. It's play. Output is poop.
