The Rise and Fall of 90210
A survey released in October 1991 found that almost 60 percent of girls aged 12 to 18 picked Luke Perry as their favorite actor. By about halfway through season 2, the show's viewership numbers had doubled. Darren Starr believed the reason it was such a hit was because it tapped into a reality about teenagers' lives. The kids on 902 and 0 may be richer, more beautiful, and have nicer hair, but they still faced emotional crises just like everyone else.
