The Psychophysiology of Bitterness
There's no emotion, more psychophysiologically taxing than bitterness, anger, resentment. It elevates your cortisol level, it takes all the blood sugar out of your blood because it prepares you for that. If you're in that state for a long period of time and it can damage key centers of the brain, they're associated with emotional regulation. And so if somebody is resentful about something, say they had a bad relationship with their mother or something, and they're resentful towards their mom, but they want to bring it somewhere better. Is that programmed into the self-authoring?
