Putin frames the situation as being one of a war between a duplicitous, conniving and manipulative NATO. He was certain that basically they could decide what would happen. Well, didn't work out that way. And in fact, the Russians, for all that they had implicitly supported Trump, not because they were supporting Trump, but just because they were trying to cause trouble. They got caught out by that.
