The Importance of Personhood in Science

I tried to describe the mushrooms in terms of using pronouns that were associated with personhood. So instead of referring to them as it, I would refer to them as who or they. That was, in part, inspired by Robin Wall-Kimmer's notation that in English there was this deep divide between writing that only humans were kind of endowed with elements of personhood or even had a gender. And so I think, too, that this was also something that Jane Goodall's work.
